My name is Marta and I am a student at De Montfort University International College Media department. I am interested in English Language and chose it as my progression route. This blog has been created as a reflective journal of my work, to express my fascination in English language, culture and art.
I was born and raised in Poland. My fascination in English language and culture has started in secondary school, where I took first lessons of English language. My greatest hobby at that time was theatre and drama, where I got fascinated with William Shakespeare and his art. The first play I had opportunity to see in the local theater was "Twelfth Night, or What You Will", which is a comedy, full of very funny language and plot twists. I prefer Shakespeare's comedies over any other genre. My favourite comedy is "Midsummer's Night Dream" full of mythical creatures and folklore. As said by N. Mambrol in Analysis of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream "With A Midsummer Night’s Dream Shakespeare goes beyond imitation to discover a distinctive voice and manner that would add a new dramatic species. After A Midsummer Night’s Dream there was Old Comedy, New Comedy, and now Shakespearean comedy, a synthesis of both. " (Mambrol, 2021) William Shakespeare has opened my mind to beutifull language, humour and British culture. Since the moment I got to know his work I dreamed of traveling to England, visiting London and place where Bard of Avon was born.
Who knew I will move to England only several years later...
