For my final project for Digital Art classes, I am writing a content article. The article's name is 'Fury Furry. Benefits of living with a cat.' and it will include some information on therapy with cats. The article is written with the help of MS Word, which helps me with spelling. Then all has been added to the Canva magazine template. You can see the work process below.
Firstly I have opened a Canva and logged in with my Google account. Then I looked for magazine templates. I was interested in something with colour as it has to be a fun article.
I found a fashion magazine template that caught my eye, I decided to change the elements to make it work with my article.
The front page background is blue, I liked that colour for my article and decided to keep it. I changed the titles and font using the menu on the left top side of the screen. Then I looked for the picture to use as a front cover image. I used a free picture from Canva. I deleted elements I did not need - issue number, month, year, I have added my name at the bottom of the front page. I moved the writing the way it fits the page and looks interesting.
Page 2 was constructed as a magazine overview, something I decided I did not need. I have deleted this page and moved to the next one. To delete the page I used a bin icon above it.
Then I moved to the second page, I chose it to be a white background with a bit of writing, and an introduction to the article.
I removed all of the elements from the page and used the left side menu to find a nice heading font and to add a paragraph. For the heading, I used a 'White Christmas' design, which I thing looks really elegant.
And I changed the heading to the subject, in the paragraph I pasted a part of my text from a working document written previously. I used the introduction part.
Next, I moved to page 3. I used a yellow background page for this. Deleted all of the elements. I used the 'White Christmas' design for the heading and inserted a paragraph to add the text from my Word document.
For page 4 I used a white background page. Again I deleted all of the elements. Inserted a paragraph using the left side menu, then the text from the word document was pasted in a paragraph and all was formatted to fit the page and look clear to the reader. Next, I added a picture from Canva.
Next, I used an index page to create a page about the therapy cats, I liked the blue writing on a white background so I kept it. Every other element was deleted from the page. The page was moved from the top of the magazine to the lower position by using an arrow above the page.
Then I changed the heading and inserted two paragraphs and a picture. Paragraphs and picture were found in the left-side menu. The text was pasted from my Word document prepared beforehand. Then I made sure all of the pages were in numerical order. Number of the page can be changed by clicking on it and simply typing the number of the page.
Page number 6 in my article will have a red background. I used the template page below to make it. Elements have been removed. The page number was changed. I used a 'White Christmas' design for the heading of the page and inserted paragraphs to add my text from a Word document. Font colours are inverted as I think they're easier to read this way.
For the last page of the article - page 7 I used a white background. The page includes a conclusion on the article and a picture found in Canva. All of the original elements were removed.
All remaining pages from the magazine template were removed, and the document was saved after each page was created so I did not lose any of my work. I really enjoyed working on my final project. I was not expecting to enjoy my digital classes as much as I do now. I think it did help me to develop some skills and learn how to use the programs I never thought I would need.
