Amelia jumped out of the bed with excitement.
- Mum! Is it today? Is today a Saturday? - she asked running through the corridor, nearly tripping over the slippers she left outside of her bedroom the night before. She hurried into her parents' bedroom.
- Mum?! Mum?! - She rushed out of the room looking for her mum.
- I'm here! - she heard mum's voice coming from downstairs.
Amelia quickly went downstairs. The dining room was beautiful, just like she imagined. Balloons were formed in an arch over the patio door, curled ribbons hanging from the ceiling light. She started checking if all the colors were there. Red, orange, yellow, green... She turned around and noticed a beautiful helium balloon placed in the corner by the living room door.
- It's a rainbow! It's just like I wanted. Thank you, mum! - she ran to hug her mum.
Amelia's mum was standing by the kitchen counter, she had a red-checked apron on, her brown hair was tied in a messy ponytail. Her hands were full of a dough.
- Mum, will you make my hair look very pretty today? - she asked. I want to look like a princess!
- Yes, sweetie. Just give me some time. Is your brother up, yet? - asked mum.
- I'll go and check. - Amelia replied.
Amelia went back upstairs to see if her brother was still in bed. As soon as she walked into his bedroom, Peter opened his eyes and smiled at her.
- Wake up, it's my special day! - she said.
Peter walks out of the bed very quickly, reaching for his dinosaur plush toy, that fell from the bed at night. He grabbed Amelia's hand and led her downstairs. He was very excited to see the room, balloons, ribbons, and the cake, and all the rainbows. Amelia loves rainbows as much as Peter loves his dinosaur.
- I am going to be a princess today! It's my birthday! - Amelia squealed when she saw her dad walking into the dining room.
